Northern Lake District

Course or workshop description

Sea cliffs and multipitch crags? Abseil issues and stuck climbers? Join this 2 day course and develop your confidence and skills to tackle problems that can occur while trad climbing. We'll emphasise how to avoid issues in the first place, and how to manage them if they occur. We will cover a mix of more common, small issues as well as more complex rope shenanagins! Content will depend on the group, but generally includes: abseil issues, stuck or injured second climber, sea cliff scenarios, helping an injured lead climber, and escaping from the system. Prior experience: You must already be a competent trad lead climber and lead belayer to get the most out of this workshop. It doesn't matter what grade you climb, you just need enough trad experience to be able to take on new ropework skills. Location: We will use crags in the northern lakes such as Headend Quarry and Shepherds crag. Timings: 09.30am - 4.30pm Group size: 4 max
