My story

I have climbed for the past 20 year throughout the UK and internationally.

Beginning climbing indoors as a young teenager, I became engrossed in the world of climbing: as a sport, an adventure, a way to explore the world, and a way to connect with others. I became surrounded by the most welcoming and enthusiastic tribe of people, who are oblivious to age, gender or status, and am passionate about sharing this with others.

I now live in Keswick, in the Lake District, and am privileged to have so many crags and mountains on my doorstep. My work is pretty much all climbing related - I run my own business, run courses for other outdoor providers, work on many events and initiatives in the outdoors, and am generally pretty immersed in the climbing world!

Through work and play, I get to see the 'whys' in climbing firsthand. For some it's the physical challenge and progression, for some it's an escape, and others enjoy the outdoors mainly as a time with friends. I get to see the value of climbing as therapy, as skill mastery, as both an empowering and humbling experience.

Pursuing my own passion for the outdoors is really important to me, particularly in rock climbing. I enjoy being outdoors regardless of the grade, but also really enjoy training and pushing my personal limits. Some specific highlights for me have been trad climbing up to E5, sport climbing up to 8a, and bouldering V11.

Whether you are after trad tuition, guided rock climbs or specific coaching, I'd like to hear from you.

I hold the Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor award (MCI). This is a high level qualification allowing me to guide and instruct on any rock or mountaineering ground in summer conditions (i.e. not snow and ice!).

I am also a qualified Development Coach.

I am a member of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors (AMI), the representative body for mountaineering instructors, which promotes the very best practise, continued professional development and high quality instruction.
