Trad Problem Solving
WAAC members. Saturday 18th April. Self rescue and trad problem solving skills.
Course or workshop description
This workshop is specifically for Women's Alpine Adventure Club members, and is part funded through the Lakeland Climbing Centre charitable trust. What to do if?? Abseil issues and stuck climbers? Join this small group 1 day course and develop your confidence and skills to tackle problems that can occur while trad climbing. We'll emphasise how to avoid issues in the first place, and then how to manage them if they occur. The day will include looking at some more common situations such as a dropped belay device or stuck second, and then move on to some more difficult situations such as ascending an abseil rope or helping an injured climber. Prior experience: You must already be a competent trad lead climber and lead belayer to get the most out of this workshop. It doesn't matter what grade you climb, you just need enough trad experience to be able to take on new ropework skills. Location: Headend Quarry, north lakes. (If the weather is bad we will run this at the Keswick Climbing Wall) Timings: 09.30am - 4pm Group size: 4 max
