Course or workshop description
This is a course for women or non-binary individuals who want to have a go climbing outdoors or just gain a refresher. This course is heavily funded by the Outdoor Partnership, who work in West Cumbria to improve access to the outdoors. There will be a maximum group size of 8, and the day will take place at Headend Quarry near Ireby. Your instructors for this day will be Juliet and Steve, working on behalf of Esther. Content generally includes: Top tips for climbing on rock and lots of climbing! Belaying at the top and bottom of the crag Choosing routes and using outdoor venues Abseiling Using outdoor climbing equipment You will need to: - have some prior experience of climbing, even if its just a bit indoors - bring suitable outdoor clothing for the weather (including waterproofs just in case!) - Harnesses, helmets and rock shoes will be provided, but bring your own if you have them Location: Headend Quarry (north lakes, nr Ireby) Timings: 10am - 4pm
