Course or workshop description

LEARN TRUST YOUR TRAD GEAR! This workshop is designed to help you improve your confidence and develop your skillset for trad leads, and help you to become a more solid, solid, safe and relaxed trad climber. We will actually weight our trad gear(!), build up our skills and trust while on lead. Who is this workshop for? You must already be able to competently lead trad climbs and lead belay to attend this workshop. You will need to be leading around VDiff/Severe to get the most out of this workshop. The day is suitable for a variety of abilities, and it doesnt matter if people are climbing a range of grades. However, you will get the most out of the day if you have experience climbing on a variety of terrain and grades. Although I will give tips on placing the best trad gear......this is not a 'learn to lead' workshop and you should already be really familiar with placing trad gear. Feel free to ask me any questions if you are unsure if this workshop is for you. Workshop content: This day is all about learning to really trust your trad gear, fine tune your gear placements and build confidence so that you don’t lead trad as if you’re soloing! We’ll look at progressive (and safe) ways to weight and test your gear at a single pitch venue, and build up your trust in yourself, your gear and your belayer. This workshop will also look at becoming the best belayer and building partner trust. When? This session will run on Saturday 13th July from 09.30am - 4.30pm, and there will be a maximum group size of 6. Where? We will use crags in the central fells, but exact venues will be decided once we have a weather forecast. Shared transport can be available from Keswick for anyone travelling by public transport. What do I need to bring? As well as suitable outdoor clothing, you need to bring your own personal climbing equipment (harness, helmet, rock shoes, belay device), and a trad rack/rope.
