Course or workshop description
My courses aim to give candidates as much quality learning as possible. As a passionate climber myself, I've also taught others for 14 years, and love enabling people to progress in their work and personal climbing life. We often use a mix of crag in the north and south lakes, and on the outskirts of Cumbria...locations will depend on the weather and where participants are travelling from. We will meet at 09.30am on the first morning of the course. The indoor climbing wall aspect is included in the course price. Courses are female led, and gender inclusive. There will be lots of open discussions in a supportive environment. I will always do my best to be welcoming and supportive to everyone that attends, that includes all genders, those from LGBTQ+ communities, under-represented backgrounds in the outdoors, and neurodiverse people. Please let me know when booking if you have any additional needs, or would like to discuss anything before the course. You'll be taken through the key elements of becoming a safe and highly skilled Rock Climbing Instructor, and have lots of opportunity to practise throughout the course. We'll look at teaching and developing others as well as being a safe instructor, and you'll leave with a clear action plan and feedback moving forward. Car shares can arranged, or pick ups from Keswick if you are arriving by public transport. Cost includes climbing wall entry for the indoor element. Course content will include: Using equipment, personal climbing skills, indoor climbing sessions, developing others, group management, safe ropework, managing incidents and the climbing environment. Before booking this course you must: - have registered for the RCI scheme with Mountain Training Before attending the course you must have: - led 15 routes which must be graded rock climbs with traditional protection. - led 15 routes at a climbing wall. - led 5 routes which must be outdoor bolt protected sport climbs. Once you have booked, I'll email you a PDF with pre-course info 3-4 weeks before the course. If you have any questions, additional needs, or have any particular worries about these courses, then please get in touch
