Outdoor Bouldering: top outs and falls!
Sun 11th August. A workshop full of outdoor bouldering techniques and tactics
Course or workshop description
Sunday 11th August at Langdale Boulders in the Lake District. Join this coaching workshop for lots of coaching insights that will fast track your outdoor bouldering, and develop some of the most crucial, but often overlooked skills - topping out, scary moves high up, and falling or jumping off. Not so keen on slopey top outs?! Adopt more of a beached whale approach at the top of boulders?! Worried about falling badly on to those tiny bouldering mats?! Want to become an actual good spotter?! These skills are absolutely crucial to bouldering well outdoors, and if we get scared or don't use good techniques, we can really struggle to complete climbs and risk hurting ourselves. This workshop will look in depth at how to build these particular skills, giving you crucial tips and coaching on those tricky top outs, scary falls and how to land safely. There will be a supportive, fun group environment, and the day will be suitable for a variety of grades. Who is this for? This day is for people who boulder regularly indoors. You will ideally climb at least V3 indoors to get the most out of the day, but the boulder venues will have a variety of grades to suit everyone. The workshop is predominantly for adults, but keen beans aged 14 or over are welcome to attend with a parent/guardian. Where? This day will run at Langdale Boulders in the Lake District. I will let participants know where to meet via email during the week before. You'll need your own transport, but we'll encourage you to arrange car shares with other participants. What if it rains?! We sometimes vary the location to pick the best forecast but I will contact all participants with final details beforehand. I have a whole of outdoor skills and tactics that we can still cover outdoors even if theres a few showers! Very occasionally we might do half the day indoors if that's more beneficial. Date: Sunday 11th August Times: 9.30am - 3.30pm Group size: maximum of 6 people Cost: £65 pp You will need: Suitable, warm outdoor clothing for the weather conditions Rock shoes and chalk lunch and a drink Bouldering mat if you have one
